Consumer Law & Rights

The legislation relating to consumer rights and protection is complex. If you’ve made a purchase that has not lived up to expectations, in the first instance, you should complain by following the companies complaint procedure if they have one. If you’ve made a complaint and a business has refused to solve the issue in a satisfactory manner, the next step is to seek legal advice and you have several options:

  • Court Action
We have vast experience in dealing with County Court claims. We will provide expert advice at every stage, including on all fees which will be required.
  • Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)
These are methods of resolving disputes between traders and consumers without the need to go to court.

At Ashwood Solicitors, we believe every consumer deserves the right to legal protection and if someone breaches your consumer rights, then you may have a valid claim against the seller, supplier or manufacturer.

During a lot of our cases, we try to avoid taking the case to court unless absolutely necessary and we will aim to resolve the issues with ADR or mediation with the other party involved. We will also explore alternative methods of funding that may be available to you in such cases and work with you to offer advice and support throughout the entire resolution process.
